Teruo (Yosiyosi Arakawa) the eldest son of a used bookstore owner has a dream: to build the world’s scariest haunted house. Hisanobu (Yoshinori Okada), a childhood friend born on the same day and at the same hospital, hesitantly goes along with Teruo’s strange hobby. Enter Akari (Yoshino Kimura) an extremely clumsy painter and recently hired part-time worker whom both men become conscious of at the same time. Idiotic yet heart-warming days transpire at the bookshop where people who have dropped off the radar of society seek refuge. What will become of this gentle, heartfelt love triangle?About the Director
After winning the Image Forum Special Jury Prize for “Kuragezuri aka Jellyfish Fishing” in 1990, Yosuke Fujita produced live theatre and stage opening visuals for works directed by Suzuki Matsuo (founder of the Otona Keikaku Theatre group) as well as Kankuro Kudo in the early days of the formation of the group. His keen visual sense has influenced both Suzuki and Kankuro. In 1992, Matsuo and Fujita co-directed “Saru de Iku (Go by Monkeys)”. In 1999, Fujita directed “Group Tamashi Electic Viper” about the three-man standup comedy band Group Tamashi comprised of Kankuro Kudo, Sadao Abe and Seminosuke Murasugi. A special screening of “Genius: The World of Yosuke Fujita” was held at the Otona Keikaku Festival in September 2006.Sales Company
