Synopsis
Fukuhara bursts into Fumiya’s apartment, a college junior on the downslide in life burdened with high percentage “illegal” card debt. Fukuhara is here to make a collection. On Fukuhara’s proposal, they make a contract to walk to Sakuradamon in downtown Tokyo. The terms of the deal are: the cancellation of Fumiya’s debt and 1 million yen in cash. The following day, Fumiya dubiously waits in Inokashira park half thinking Fukuhara won’t show up, but the man appears wearing dazzling, brand-new sneakers. They start walking. “Where are we heading?” “Sakuradamon.” Fumiya asks why. “If you heard, you’d want to leave. You still in?” “People sure die so easily.” “Huh?” Fukuhara hit his wife and she accidentally died from the force of the blow. Now, he’s on his way to the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department in Sakuradamon to turn himself in. Fumiya has a new plight too: to come along for the ride. Fumiya half-believes Fukuhara really whacked his wife. “We won’t know how many days it will take unless we start walking.” And so they take to the road.About the Director
