Synopsis
Tomoki Sakai (Kento Hayashi, The Battery- Future in Our Hands), an average middle school student, is fascinated by the diving skills of Yoichi Fujitani (Sosuke Ikematsu, The Last Samurai). This inspires him to join the Mizuki Diving Club (MDC) where Yoichi trains. He soon discovers the club is in debt and may shut down. Help comes in the form of the beautiful new coach, Kayoko Asaki (Asaka Seto, Death Note). Her mission: To save the MDC by molding its divers into Olympic level athletes. She also brings in the highly skilled but eccentric Shibuki Okitsu (Junpei Mizobata), whose outrageous competitive and nature charges the atmosphere of the club. Meanwhile, Kayoko discovers that Tomoki possesses a rare ability called "diamond eyes," and inspires him to push his training even further. The three divers have to overcome their own personal problems while simultaneously struggling to succeed in their competitive sport. Do they have what it takes to make it to the Olympics? Can they survive being pushed to their physical limits? And what is the mystery of "diamond eyes"? The scorching summer of three boys hooked on the thrill of diving is about to begin.About the Director
Naoto Kumazawa , born April 6, 1967 in Nagoya, Japan, began his career making independent films while attending college. He was invited to screen his works in the Yubari Film Festival's "Off-Theatre" section and was awarded the "Business Jump Grand Film Price" by the publishers of Business Jump Magazine.In 1992, he joined the production company Pony Canyon, where he worked on Swallowtail Butterfly, The Ring, Rasen and Hakkyou no Kuchibiru. In his free time, he continued to direct independent films- including Liberal which was selected for the Pia Film Festival in 1994. He followed up with Hobos (1997) and Rainbow (1999). That same year, he left Pony Canyon to focus on his directing career and made both music videos and feature films.
